What is Red Look?
Red Look is a nonprofit (NPO) based in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, creating a third place where Japanese and international people meet as equals and grow together through languages, friendships, and careers. There are five ways to take part: Free Consultation, the Weekly Online Exchange, In-Person Events, Red Hub, and Red Supporters.
About Red LookWho can join?
Anyone. Nationality, age, and language level don't matter. Participants include Japanese people who want to speak English, international residents practicing Japanese, and students and professionals interested in working in Japan or abroad.
Where should I start?
We recommend the free Weekly Online Exchange or an in-person event in Shibuya or Sagamihara. If you have questions about languages or careers, you can also start with a free consultation. If you are not sure which fits you, our 8-minute career assessment shows your strengths and where to start.
See the weekly online exchangeCan I join if my English or Japanese isn't good?
Yes. You don't need to be fluent. People help each other as they talk, so first-timers are welcome.
How do I sign up?
Sign up for the Weekly Online Exchange and in-person events on Meetup (free account). Free consultations use the form on this site, and Red Hub is on Discord.
Can I join from outside Japan?
Yes. The Weekly Online Exchange, free consultations, and Red Hub are online, so you can join from anywhere. Times are shown in Japan Standard Time (JST).
Costs
Does it cost anything?
Free consultations and the Weekly Online Exchange are free. In-person events are mostly free; any fee (for example, for the venue) is listed on Meetup. Red Hub is ¥1,500/month, and Red Supporters is ¥1,500/month (¥1,000 donation + ¥500 activity fee).
Will you try to sell me something later?
No. We don't push paid services or send repeated sales messages.
How can I donate?
On the Red Supporters & Donation page, you can choose a monthly donation (¥1,000, ¥3,000, or ¥10,000 by credit card) or a one-time bank transfer.
Red Supporters & DonationAre donations or membership fees tax-deductible?
No. Red Look is not a certified (nintei) NPO, so donations and fees are not eligible for tax deductions in Japan.
How do I cancel a monthly donation or membership?
Monthly donations can be canceled with the cancellation form on the Red Supporters & Donation page. For Red Hub, cancel from your Whop account or contact us through Discord or the contact form; for Red Supporters, contact us on Slack or by email. In each case, payments stop from the following month; amounts already paid are not refunded.
Supporting & creating together
I can't join every time. Can I still be involved?
Yes. Red Supporters have no required activities: you support us through a membership fee and help run events when you can — even once every few months.
See Red SupportersHow can I join the staff?
Staff take on roles and join weekly activities and meetings (there is no fee). See the recruitment page for open roles.
