Internship Report – The First Program Completed: A Month of Challenge and Growth
From September to October 2025, the first internship program of NPO Red Look came to a close.
Founded on August 1, 2025, Red Look launched this program just weeks after incorporation, driven by a strong desire to support global challengers as early as possible. The internship recruitment took place in mid to late August, with the program starting in mid-September.
For Red Look, which focuses on supporting Japanese individuals pursuing careers abroad, this was also our first challenge as an internship host.
For the participants, it became a valuable opportunity to learn teamwork, communication, and self-awareness in a professional environment.
This article summarizes the program’s activities, outcomes, and reflections.
Purpose of the Internship — Learning Through Challenge
NPO Red Look operates under two main missions:
- Supporting Japanese individuals who aspire to work overseas
- Helping foreign professionals find employment in Japan
By connecting these two groups, Red Look aims to create an environment where both sides can grow — Japanese participants gain real international perspectives and communication practice, while foreign participants receive localized career insights from Japanese professionals.
This internship program was designed to reflect that philosophy — not only supporting challengers, but also creating opportunities for interns to become challengers themselves.
Participants were recruited through the volunteering and internship platform “activo”, targeting students and young professionals eager to gain experience in international education, communication, and project work.
During the program, interns worked on social media management, design, and promotion planning, gaining hands-on experience in Red Look’s mission to “support those who challenge themselves.”
Overview of the Internship
Red Look’s internship program is a practical, growth-oriented program that combines career learning with real project engagement.
At its core lies Red Look’s belief that “our team members should also be global challengers.”
Having experienced challenges abroad themselves, they bring credibility and depth to the organization’s mission.
This time, the interns were primarily involved in improving outreach and public engagement, one of the key areas of Red Look’s ongoing development. The tasks were designed to ensure that each intern’s growth aligned with the organization’s impact goals.
Program Structure (4 Weeks)
| Week | Theme | Activities |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Self-analysis & mission understanding | Completing personal analysis and Red Look alignment sheets |
| Week 2 | Action plan & project assignment | Setting individual goals and starting Red Path-related tasks |
| Week 3 | Implementation & review | Working on real tasks such as SNS posts and program improvements |
| Week 4 | Reflection & feedback | Presentations, feedback meetings, and summary reports |
Communication and task reviews were conducted via Slack, while interns used Canva Pro for content creation.
They also participated in internal learning sessions on Slack Pro usage and AI tools for workflow efficiency, gaining new digital skills.
Red Path — The Core Project
During the internship, the main focus was supporting and improving Red Look’s core program, “Red Path.”
What is Red Path?
Red Path is a “one-month bootcamp for 20-somethings who want to take on global challenges.”
It provides structured training in self-analysis, career strategy, and international job-hunting skills.
The program is led by three types of professional coaches —
an English communication coach, an overseas career coach, and a personal development coach,
each with real-world overseas experience (including volunteering, work, or study).
Participants complete the course with a customized global career plan, an English resume, and a refined LinkedIn profile.
Interns’ Contributions
Three interns joined this term and worked collaboratively through coaching-style discussions to define their tasks and strengths.
Example 1 — Red Path SNS Promotion and Content Design
- Revamping Instagram profile and visuals
- Creating post templates and content plans
- Designing and publishing Reels videos
Example 2 — Course Material Review and Research
- Researching skills, qualifications, and experience needed for overseas careers (especially in the U.S.)
- Proposing updates to the “Global Career” section of Red Path
Example 3 — Market and Audience Analysis
- Reviewing existing materials and identifying improvement points
- Conducting target and persona analysis for global career seekers (students & young professionals)
One of the most impressive deliverables was a high-quality Instagram Reels video produced by an intern with prior video-editing experience.
Its professional finish impressed the entire team.
Intern Voices — Reflections and Learning
Three participants joined the first internship program, each bringing their own strengths and aspirations.
Here are some of their voices and takeaways.
“I learned how to create content that not only conveys information but also emotionally resonates with the audience.
Through feedback and iteration, I gained new confidence in structuring messages and engaging viewers.”
“The self-analysis sheet gave me a chance to deeply reflect on my own strengths and career direction.
It was meaningful to work on tasks aligned with my personal goals — it truly boosted my motivation.”
“I was impressed that Red Look focused on mutual growth — not only for the organization but also for the interns.
The supportive team culture and the Slack communication helped me feel part of something impactful.”
Lessons & Future Improvements
Interns also shared constructive suggestions for future programs:
- More opportunities for live communication
→ They suggested occasional Google Meet sessions for verbal explanation of materials to enhance clarity and engagement. - Earlier task and schedule sharing
→ While they appreciated Red Look’s flexibility, early task visibility would help them prepare more effectively. - Longer program duration
→ A one-month term felt too short to fully realize outcomes — many wished for 2–3 month programs in the future.
Personal Growth
“This internship made me realize how much I enjoy planning and communication work.
I want to keep improving my creative and strategic skills.”
“Working on Red Path helped me understand the importance of having a clear personal axis in my career.”
“I enjoyed the challenge of thinking and creating from scratch.
Researching real stories of people working abroad expanded my world view.”
🚀 Looking Ahead — Next Internship and Future Vision
Red Look will continue to offer internships regularly.
Based on this first program’s feedback, we plan to create an even more interactive and educational experience.
Planned Improvements
- 💬 Increase live, discussion-based online meetings
→ We will introduce short briefings and explanation sessions to share the background and purpose behind each task, improving overall communication clarity. - ⏱️ Extend program duration (2–3 months)
→ Longer participation will allow deeper engagement and project ownership. - 🌏 Expand opportunities for international participants
→ In the future, we aim to open internship opportunities for foreign students seeking jobs in Japan.
