NPO Red Look Registered as a Sagamihara SDGs Partner
Attending the Official SDGs Certification Ceremony in Sagamihara City
Building a sustainable future together with the local community through international career support
NPO Red Look (based in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) has officially been registered as a Sagamihara SDGs Partner, a program promoted by Sagamihara City to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our Executive Director, Yutaro Akami, attended the official certification ceremony, where we received the SDGs Partner recognition plaque from Mayor Kentaro Motomura of Sagamihara City.
This milestone marks an important step in strengthening our collaboration with local government, businesses, and educational institutions.

Report from the Certification Ceremony and Key Takeaways
During the ceremony, we had the opportunity to connect with many local companies and civic organizations based in Sagamihara.
Through direct conversations on site, our Executive Director strongly recognized the importance of expanding our activities beyond Sagamihara City to the Machida and Tama areas, and of strengthening local members who actively support and operate our initiatives in each region.
Aligned with the purpose of the Sagamihara SDGs Partner program, NPO Red Look will continue to promote practical and impact-driven initiatives in collaboration with local governments, businesses, and educational institutions.
“Receiving the recognition plaque directly from the Mayor was a significant milestone for us.
It also opened many new connections with local companies. Moving forward, we aim to recruit local members across Sagamihara, Machida, and the Tama region, and accelerate support that truly makes a difference on the ground.”— Executive Director, NPO Red Look

Red Look’s Initiatives as a Sagamihara SDGs Partner
As a Sagamihara SDGs Partner, NPO Red Look contributes to the SDGs through the following initiatives (as of January 27, 2026):
- Creating an open and welcoming space where Japanese individuals seeking overseas careers and foreign nationals seeking employment in Japan can connect and discuss their careers freely
- As a nonprofit organization, we do not operate as a paid job placement agency. Instead, we aim to provide a “Third Place” that balances accessibility with serious career development.
“We want to support a wide range of people—from those casually interested in global careers to those seriously pursuing international success.
Having lived abroad for several years myself, I understand how easily foreign residents can feel isolated. Our goal is to create a space that is both approachable and deeply meaningful.” — Executive Director, NPO Red Look
- As a nonprofit organization, we do not operate as a paid job placement agency. Instead, we aim to provide a “Third Place” that balances accessibility with serious career development.
- Providing career support programs, skill development workshops, and online communities for both Japanese and non-Japanese participants
(practical job skills, language learning, and career strategy) - Promoting regional revitalization initiatives for a wide range of generations—including children, students, and seniors—focused on international experience, cross-cultural understanding, and solutions to local challenges such as labor shortages
- Supporting access to global perspectives for younger generations, while also assisting companies that employ foreign talent and foreign residents who face challenges in learning Japanese
In addition, we actively seek companies that support and sponsor these initiatives as long-term regional partners - Offering international perspectives and solutions to challenges faced by local governments, businesses, educational institutions, and citizens
Through years of engagement with diverse cultures and communities, NPO Red Look has positioned international career development support as its core mission.
We aim to contribute to regional development in Sagamihara—and beyond—through globally informed approaches.

These activities contribute to multiple SDGs, including:
- Quality Education (Goal 4)
- Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8)
- Reduced Inequalities (Goal 10)
- Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goal 11)
- Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17)
With our official SDGs Partner registration, we will further strengthen our ability to deliver locally rooted and actionable impact.
Next Steps: Strengthening Local Members and Corporate Partnerships
Building on the network established through the certification ceremony, we plan to:
- Recruit local members (organizers, volunteers, mentors) in Sagamihara, Machida, and the Tama area
- Identify and collaborate with supporting and sponsoring companies that share our vision of creating spaces for Japanese and international career exchange
- Participate in or organize regional problem-solving projects and events in collaboration with local governments and educational institutions
We warmly welcome inquiries from individuals, companies, and organizations interested in working together.
Message from the Executive Director
“NPO Red Look has operated as a community across three countries—Canada, Germany, and Japan.
In 2026, we aim to place greater emphasis on regional activities by leveraging this experience.
Receiving the SDGs Partner recognition plaque from Mayor Kentaro Motomura and connecting directly with many companies and organizations was truly encouraging.
From Sagamihara as our base, we will steadily build an international co-creation community that supports one another across Sagamihara, Machida, and the Tama region.”
