Red Look Incorporated as an NPO on August 1

Main Image

On August 1, 2025, Red Look, an organization that supports Japanese people in pursuing opportunities abroad and foreigners seeking employment in Japan, was officially registered as the Non-Profit Organization (NPO) Red Look.

For the past two and a half years, we had been operating as a voluntary community. By becoming a legally recognized NPO, we have established a stronger foundation to earn trust and provide reliable support to a wider audience.

Background and Our Journey So Far

Red Look began in January 2023 in Vancouver, Canada. Our founder and current representative director, Yutaro Akami (Eric), drew on his own experience with overseas employment and the challenges he faced to start the initiative.

Initially launched as a tech community under the name “Vancouver Developer Meetup Group ~ Red Look ~”, we provided career support such as interview preparation and skill development to those seeking local employment. Within one year, we hosted more than 90 events and grew into a thriving community of over 600 members.

Canada Event

Later, our activities expanded to Tokyo, where we focused on supporting foreign engineers struggling with the challenges of job hunting in Japan. Eventually, a community was also established in Munich, Germany, extending our network internationally.

Through these activities across multiple countries, two core themes naturally emerged:

  • Supporting Japanese people pursuing careers abroad
  • Supporting foreigners seeking employment in Japan

Why We Decided to Become an NPO

As a voluntary organization, we began receiving increasing offers of support and collaboration. At the same time, we realized that in order to form sustainable partnerships with governments, companies, and individuals, legal incorporation was essential.

The decision to become an NPO was driven by the need for:

  • Credibility when collaborating with public institutions and businesses
  • A stable financial foundation to secure activity funds
  • A long-term support system that connects Japan and the world
  • A secure framework for staff and volunteers to engage with confidence

With these goals in mind, we started preparations in May 2025 and, after filing the necessary paperwork and coordinating with stakeholders, completed registration on August 1.

Our Mission and Activities

Red Look’s slogan is:
“Making World Connection With Skills”

We aim to support both:

  • Japanese people who want to challenge themselves abroad
  • Foreigners who want to build careers in Japan

Core Activities

  1. Sharing Skill Information
Researching and disseminating essential job skills for working abroad and in Japan.

  2. Supporting Skill Development
Providing training in language learning, programming, resume and CV preparation, and interview skills.

  3. Building Networks
Creating communities where Japanese aspiring to work abroad and foreigners seeking careers in Japan can connect, learn from one another, and support each other.

By leveraging our experience in international communities, we continue to expand our cross-border career support.

Message from the Representative Director

“Having traveled to more than 15 countries myself, I have firsthand experience of the difficulties of building a career abroad. Many people face barriers of language, culture, and finances when they try to take that step.
Red Look was founded out of a desire to create an environment where such people can challenge themselves with confidence.
Now, as an officially incorporated NPO, I am confident we can extend our support to even more people.”
— Yutaro Akami, Representative Director

Looking Ahead

With our new legal status, NPO Red Look plans to strengthen the following initiatives:

  • Expanding online courses and career consultation services
  • Hosting job fairs and networking events abroad and in Japan
  • Building partnerships with governments, companies, and educational institutions
  • Providing career support to a wide range of people, from students to professionals

We will continue to act as a bridge between Japanese pursuing careers abroad and foreigners building careers in Japan.

Closing Remarks

The incorporation of Red Look as an NPO on August 1, 2025, marks a new starting point for us. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported us so far and, under the vision of “Making World Connection With Skills”, we will continue to encourage and empower individuals to take their next step.
